"A whip for the horse, a halter for the donkey, and a rod for the backs of fools!" Proverbs 26:3
I think all of us have been fools at one time or another, and God knows this, He knows when we do or say foolish things and almost always there is some kind of punishment forthcomming when we do things that are not becomming of our faith. When we are disciplined by the Lord its trouble that we bring on ourselves. It's like a whippin from 'the Old man' just not with belt or switch but from our consciences and feelings of convictions, taking away of posessions, and doing time in jail or probation. These are the 'whippins' and the conseqences we face for foolishness. The Father disciplines His children because He love us. If when we do wrong and foolish things and feel no punishment then we are lacking a closeness with God the Father.
So all we can do is pray for self-control and wisdom in our actions and hope we don't do things we will regret. I believe this takes practice, we have to work harder at doing right because doing wrong comes natural. The closer we get to our Lord, the less we get whippins. This I know by experience, Amen. Have a blessed and happy day, In Jesus' name, Amen
