JESUS' PERSONALITY?

DID HE SMILE AND LAUGH ALOT?

Considering all that we read in the bible about Him one would probably conclude that Jesus was not as jovial and happy, and perhaps as funny as some of us would like to think. But tell me how could some one with His super natural ablities and way with words be anything but full of joy and peace, not to mention being "God" on earth. He was so full of the Holy Spirit I bet He was always smiling and laughing even when he spoke in just normal conversation, especially before His ministry began because He must have known His end from the beginning and the fact that He was the Savior of the world and no matter what He had to go through in this life, He would be ultimately be exzalted above all men and worshipped as God.

I don't believe He was serious all the time. You know the type, pious, and quiet, exept to say scary things, always telling us everything we should not do and the trouble we'll be in if we are sinful. I just can't see anyone attracting such a large following by being serious 'all' the time and never showing a sense of humor. I tend to think of Him as being 'cool' and smiling alot, and laughing with people. Being friendly and helpful to His family and friends. I bet He even told funny stories and made His disciples laugh. I bet He even poked fun at people when it was appropriate. Imagine you're hangin' out with Jesus, having some wine and talking, you're asking Him all sorts of questions and He's answering all of them. Surely at some point there would be laughter and joy because He was full of the fruits of the Holy Spirit, all nine of them; love, joy, peace, kindness, mildness and faithfulness, patience, self-control, and goodness. There was no guile found in Him. The only 'perfect' man since Adam. He had a lot to be joyful and happy about and He was teaching His disciples to be like Him. Even though they would suffer and die in the process. But, up until that time came, I believe they all had some fun and good times as well as serious and scary times.

His message was salvation through the 'grace' of God, through 'faith' in Him. The 'Good News' is, He took our punishment, He took our whipping for our sinful disobedience. He shed His blood and gave His life as the sacrificial 'Lamb' of God for the forgiveness of all our sin, past, present, and future. Anything less than that would not be such 'Good News'. If the Gospel message was salvation by obedience to the 'Law of Moses' we'd all be lost! If the Gospel message was salvation by going to church or salvation in and of ourselves to do good and please God we'd all be lost! The 'Good News' is that we are made righteous in the sight of God because of what Jesus did for us over 2000 years ago. God made a way for us where there was no way before Jesus. Praise His holy name! Be joyful and happy because if we recieve this free gift from Him, He will "remember our sins no more"! Wow! What a comfort to know that God loves us despite our sinful flesh, He knows us and wants us anyway! He will cleanse us from all unrighteousness and make us heirs and joint heirs with His chosen ones. Correct me if I'm wrong but this is really 'Good news.' This is the Gospel message that needs to be preached to the world and it is, more so today than ever before.

So, anyway, I believe Jesus was very cool in His time on earth. He taught very large crowds and kept their attention with His magnetic personality. Yes, I believe He joked, and laughed, and had fun while He was here. He was not 'all business' like some churches would have us to believe, He was not even keen on religion in His day. He exposed the religious leaders for what they were, hipocrites and vipers, play actors and teachers of the commands of men as doctrine. Here's a guy in His early 30s telling the elders of Temple that they were 'all messed up' basically. No wonder they wanted to kill Him. He was cramping their style, so to speak. But it all had to happen the way it did to fulfill the prophesies that were outlined already in the Jewish bible.

All this being said, if you have'nt yet heard this Gospel of Grace or recieved the free gift of salvation from God, just believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and God's Word says that you 'will' be saved. Say this: "Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God and You loved me first, and that You died for me, You took my punishment. You came back for me. You saved me by Your shed blood. Jesus, come into my heart and I make You my Lord and Savior. My spirit is born again now and I am saved! Thank You Jesus! Praise God!
Now, find somewhere to be baptized in water and also recieve the gift of the Holy Spirit that Jesus promised us we could have.  May the God of heaven bless you beyond your wildest dreams and show you great and wonderful things you do not know. Have a "smile filled" rest of your life.
